Most apps ask for your phone number, build a profile, and quietly learn who you talk to. HopNet does the opposite: it collects nothing about you.
Think of it like handing a sealed letter to a friend.
Your phone locks the message so only your friend's phone can open it.
Whenever you're both online, it goes straight phone-to-phone. No middleman.
If your friend is offline, it waits in a locked box until they're back — still sealed.
That locked box is what we call the blind mailbox. It's the only piece of the internet HopNet ever touches — and it can't read a thing.
The blind mailbox holds only the sealed, unreadable version of your message. The keys live only on your and your friend's phones.
The mailbox sees an anonymous locked parcel arrive and leave. It never learns who you are, who your friend is, or what you said.
That blind mailbox has to live somewhere reliable, worldwide. We rent it from Cloudflare, one of the internet's most trusted infrastructure providers, and we chose it precisely because it lets the mailbox stay blind — it only ever holds sealed, anonymous parcels.
Running it isn't free. We'd rather tell you that plainly than hide it, sell your data, or fill the app with ads. HopNet has no ads and no trackers — and it always will.
